Have you heard of The Cupcake Bakery before? If not, well you should have! They only make the best cupcakes that you would’ve ever tasted! Yes, that’s a pretty big call, so you’ll just have to try them out for yourself! Well finally a store has just opened up at Chermside!

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take photos at the Chermside store’s GRAND OPENING which was last Saturday the 27th of April 2013. Admittedly my fiancee Laura had just started working there, and so I offered to take some snaps of the grand opening for the lovely owners, AJ and Aimee.

Anyway, here’s some photos that I took on the day! Check out all the yummy cupcakes and other goodies!

“Old Dogs New Tricks” was a project organised by Transit Lounge Caboolture and funded by a RADF grant that they applied for. Basically the idea behind the project was to get a bunch of young artists to teach and mentor mature aged artists (ages 45+) in the art forms of Graffiti art, Computer aided illustration, Photoshop for photographers, Photoshop for painters, and New media (mash ups/ video art).

Transit Lounge Caboolture approached me and asked if I wanted to teach the “New media class” part of the project, which I was honoured and delighted to do! In the class I taught basic skills in how to edit film, some filming techniques and styles of video art.

The “Old Dogs New Tricks” project was run over a couple of months from September 2012 to late October 2012. Weekly classes were held at The Hub Caboolture for the participants (the “old dogs”) to work on their artworks in their chosen topic, while being facilitated by tutors (the young artists teaching “new tricks”). At the end of the project, there was an exhibition held in The Hub Caboolture for all the artists involved, including the tutors, to showcase their works.

I was also asked to film a series of short interviews with some of the students and tutors of the classes. We wanted to get their feedback on the classes, how they felt being taught something “new” by someone “younger” than them, and if they had any suggestions on how/if the workshops could be improved if future ones were held.

The feature video below is the final result of what I filmed and edited over a painstaking 3 days! But it was worth it in the end as I’m very happy with how the video turned out. Have a watch, laugh along, and enjoy!

Emma and Andrew are such lovely people, so it was great to be apart of their wedding day, 21st of April 2012, and it was wonderful to capture some cute little moments between them and their beautiful little boy, Max. Their family bond is amazing and it was a privilege to witness.

I’m actually quite proud to share this video, as it’s the first one that I was the main videographer/director for, while Laura was my assistant videographer. In saying that, Laura did a great job stepping out of her element as a photographer to be a videographer for a day. We hope you enjoy the video! These rockers don’t rest for long! After This Moment are back again in yet another Battle of the Bands competition! This time they were apart of a competition that was held at The Hi-Fi in Brisbane.

If you haven’t been to The Hi-Fi, you should’ve at least heard of it, and if you haven’t – now you have! The Hi-Fi is located in West End not far from the CBD, and it is definitely one of the best live music venues that I’ve been to.

Anyway, enough about that – back to the bands! It was a stiff competition between ATM and the other bands that were in the battle. Unfortunately ATM didn’t make it through this heat, however, they rocked their hearts out – just take a look at the photos!

Dion and Elizabeth are two awesome friends of ours who are getting married next year. They asked us if we could capture some lovely moments for their engagement photoshoot, and so we did! Laura and I also filmed a short, sweet video of some behind the scenes footage, and also of Dion and Liz sharing the story of how they met, came to fall in love, and how Dion proposed to Liz.

I’d also recently purchased a new piece of camera equipment to add to my kit – a delicious 60″ Atlas 10 Slider from Cinevate – which I was very eager to try it out. So throughout the video, you should notice some of the nice sliding (dolly/tracking) shots – this was thanks to the Atlas 10 Slider.

We’re so pleased with how the video turned out. We think it really captures a “mushy” side of both Dion and Liz that not many of us have seen (or perhaps even themselves!), but when we gave them a sneak peek of the video, they loved it! Pop/punk/rock band, After This Moment, are a local Brisbane band who formed in early 2010. They are in fact the other 2 quarters of my band, 8th Edge! Either way, ATM were entered into a Battle of the Bands competition which was held in Coolum.

The competition was held at the Coolum Beach Hotel, which is quite a cosy little venue, but the stage, sound and lighting that the bands had to rock out on was just right! Anyway, here are some action shots that I took of ATM rockin’ it out!

Another great 21st Birthday Party that I had the privilege of being a part of! Sarah’s friends and family were a fun and friendly bunch of people – loving every chance they had to get their photo taken!

Sarah’s party was held on the upper level of The Mustang Bar Brisbane, in the Deck Bar. With enough space to cater for about 200 people, a private bar, a projector, and a massive wall of windows looking down onto Ann Street below in Fortitude Valley – it was the perfect venue for her 21st!

Laura now offers styling as part of her photography services. She has been building up a collection of garments over the past few months for models to use in some of her photoshoots. Finally the opportunity came for her to use some of the garments with an aspiring model (who wishes to remain “anonymous”) from Brisbane.

Samantha Devcich (aka Samiera Jain) has a voice that you just have to hear! Laura Tuton and I had the opportunity to work with her on her first photo shoot for the artwork in her upcoming EP titled “Notice Me”. The shoot was done in the lovely locations around Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm.

On the drive in, it started to rain, but luckily it cleared up and held off so we could do what we had to do. You only turn 21 once, so you should make the most of it, right? Well Megan did! She had a great night, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones – a lovely group of people, which helped make my job and night just that bit easier and enjoyable.

Megan’s party was held at Quay West Suites is Brisbane. I thought it was a great choice of venue, especially the function room that her party was in, which had an alfresco-type area combined with a dance floor and a DJ, an inside area for mingling, drinking, lounging and eating. It wasn’t a huge area, but definitely made good use of space.

Below are some shots I took on the night of her 21st party before Megan and her crew headed off afterwards to party on into the night!

This video is a bit different to the usual behind-the-scenes and wedding videos that I do. This short silent film is about a guy and girl who meet in a coin laundry and later meet up for a “date” at a cafe. The idea behind it all was initially one that Laura Tuton conjured up a while ago, but she hadn’t found the right couple to play the roles of the guy and girl. This was my first and biggest regional council related video project, and it was a great opportunity to be a part of, and a privilege to work with some very friendly and talented people. The project was to create a brochure and posters which showcased all of the special events going on within the Moreton Bay region to promote Youth Week 2011. Jamboree comes around once a year around mid to late August, and is held at Willowbank Raceway, which is about 50km south west of Brisbane. Over the 2 day event, all types of show cars are on display there, as well as the race cars tearing it up down the drag strip. Check out the photos I shot below.
